Volunteens

Volunteen Access

Cerritos Library Volunteens are dependable teen volunteers who are assigned projects such as shelving materials, helping with library programs, monitoring the children's computer workstations and operating the Friends Bookstore.

Volunteens are selected through an application and interview process. Volunteen applicants must be at least 13 years old and in grades 7 through 12. Applicants must have a Cerritos Library card in good standing and are required to successfully pass a criminal background assessment in accordance with City policy, which includes a Live Scan records check. Successful applicants have an interest in helping others; a willingness to perform a variety of projects and tasks; and an ability to complete assigned tasks on time. They are also capable of following instructions, working independently and collaborating with other volunteers and staff members.

Volunteen applications are available at the Circulation Desk in April, July and November. For more information, please call (562) 916-1338 or email volunteen@cerritos.us.

Cerritos Library greatly appreciates the contributions made by volunteers, as they help make many popular programs and service possible.
